What molecules constitutes the majority of the atmosphere? Why does it take so much space?

  1. Oxygen , O2, is about 20%

    nitrogen , N2, is about 80%

    their is little attraction between these molecules to concentrate them,

    gases attempt to disperse throughout the space they have to occupy, & the force of gravity keeps most it as dense as it is
