You are titrating an unknown solution of oxalic acid (H2C2O4). If it takes 25.3 ml of a 0.125M NaOH solution to neutralize 10 ml of the oxalic acid solution, what is the molarity of the oxalic acid? Here is the unbalanced equation.

H2C2O4 + NaOH -----> Na2C2O4 + H2O

  1. H2C2O4 + 2 NaOH => Na2C2O4 + 2 H2O

    Moles NaOH = 0.125 x 0.0253 L = 0.00316

    Moles H2C2O4 = 0.00316/2 = 0.00158

    M = 0.00158 mol / 0.010 L =0.158
