1) what is meant by complete ionization in water solution?

2) an aqueous solution contains large amount of OH- ions. Is the base present strong or weak? explain.

  1. 1)Complete ionization means that the acid or base, what so ever, in the solution gives maximum of its ions(H+ ion for acid and OH- for base).But remember one thing none of the acid or base in the world ionizes 100%.A strong acid or base is considered as one which ionizes more than 90%

    2)If the aqueous solution contains large amount of OH- ions then ofcours the base would be the strong one.Because the difference of definition b/w a strong and a weak base is that a strong base is one which ionizes to higher extent in its solution where as a weak base is one which ionizes to a lesser extent.
