2Ca + O2 -> 2CaO

How many grams of CaO can be produced from 1.80 moles of Ca with an unlimited supply of O2?

Choices:

1.80 g

56.0g

101 g

112 g

180 g

I keep thinking it's 180 g but I have a feeling that I'm doing it wrong.

  1. If you start with 1.80 moles of Ca, you will get as many moles of CaO (see the reaction above, where 2 Ca --> 2 CaO).

    Well, the Molar Mass of CaO is  56.08 g/mol (ie., 40.08 + 16.00).

    Therefore,  as to CaO:    1.80 mol x 56.08 g/mol = 101 g of CaO.

  2. max 100,8

    M(CaO)=56

    from 1,8 moles we may have max 1,8 moles CaO if reaction go to end

    56*1,8=100,8
