Chemistry work experience?

Where are the best places to get work experience in chemistry? I'm only 16 so an intership isn't really an option (that'd be too long in any case), I'm looking to maybe shadow someone, or something like that?

  1. Because of the nature of chemistry labs, insurance companies frown upon (and seldom cover) non-employees in the laboratories.

Whether you want this for true experience or just as an item to place on a resume, you best bet is to talk to the chemistry teacher at a local high school or 2-year college and offer to volunteer to mix solutions to be used in the demonstrations or labs done by the students taking chemistry courses.

A college degree in Chemistry is the primary requirement for most jobs in the field.  There are often 2 or more applicants for every opening.
