Chen Jin beats Yan Kit Chan in Men’s Singles opening round at Korea Open Premier Super Series
China’s former World Champion, Chen Jin, has proved too strong for Hong Kong’s Yan Kit Chan as he won the Men’s Singles opening round match at the 2012 Korea Open Premier Super Series, in South Korea, on Wednesday, January 4.
Chen Jin, who is currently ranked at number five in the men’s Singles world rankings, has overpowered Yan Kit in an impressive manner as he won the match without losing dropping even a single game. He took 46 minutes to end the fight in straight games and
advanced into Men’s Singles round-of-16.
The Chinese remained lucky in taking the opening game with a narrow margin after working extra hard. However he found his flow in the second game and ousted his opponent by winning it with a reasonable difference.
The opening game started in a thrilling manner when the Hong Kong shuttler showed his aggression and tried his best to take an early lead. However, Jin also played well and moved his rival in all areas of the court with his perfectly executed drives. Until
the break, both shuttlers failed to build a good lead.
The score remained tight after the one-minute break as both men continued their positive play until the ending points of the first game. The Chinese played with precision at this stage and ended the set with a close score of 21-19.
In the second game, both players entertained the local fans with their elite skills and remained toe-to-toe until the interval. Jin was in a somewhat better position as he started to dictate the pace of the game and disturbed the flow of his opponent.
Jin played remarkable badminton in the second half of the game and remained dominant. The Hong Kong shuttler failed to play positive badminton in the concluding phase of the game. Jin played powerful smashes and strong pushes which assisted him to maintain
pressure on his challenger.
Because of his positive and aggressive approach, Jin took the second game with a decent 21-17 score on the board. The final score of this Men’s Singles 46-minute opening round encounter was 21-19 and 21-17.
