Chen Jin defeats Parupalli Kashyap to surge into quarter-final of the Japan Open Super Series
China’s passionate shuttler, Chen Jin was a little lucky in beating Parupalli Kashyap after three games in the Men’s Singles round-of-16 battle at the 2011 Japan Open Super Series, in Tokyo, Japan, on September 22.
World Number Six shuttler, Chen Jin, who was a runner-up in the Men’s Singles category at last week’s China Masters Super Series in China, is looking for another great performance in the Japan Open. However, his performance was not impressive against India’s
emerging shuttler, Kashyap. The Chinese managed to win the 66-minute battle in three sets after working extra hard in the deciding game.
The starting points of the first game were very fast, as both shuttlers were playing at the highest pace. The Indian, who has been playing incredible badminton for the last one year, played to his full potential against the former World Champion. However,
the Chinese player managed to win the first game with the score of 21-15 in 24 minutes.
The following set of the match was stunning for the higher ranked Chinese, as the World Number 23, Kashyap displayed an attacking and fast game by hitting the bird extremely hard from all areas. His spinning net strokes and impressive killings earned him
a wonderful advantage over his experienced challenger. Jin tried to tackle the aggression of the Indian but could not stop Kashyap from winning the second set with a stunning margin of 21-6, by taking just 15 minutes in the court.
In the decider, Jin changed his strategy and employed his powerful smashes to tackle the aggression of Kashyap. He managed an 11-8 lead until the 60-second break in this final set of the match. After the break, the Chinese shuttler continued his positive
play throughout the set against the talented Indian, who was also putting up good resistance.
The sixth seed Chinese played a planned game in the end and emerged as the winner with the score of 21-18 in 27 minutes. This wonderful 66-minutes battle ended in three sets with the result of 21-15, 6-21 and 21-18.
In the Men’s Singles quarter-final, Jin will be up against compatriot, Lin Dan, who is the second seed in the event.
