Chen Jin determined to pocket full benefits of Olympic qualification period
The Chinese Men’s Singles shuttler Chen Jin is in a tight Olympic qualification tussle and he is determined to cement his spot in the mega event by making a couple of strong bids before the qualification ends in May 2012.
According to the rules of Badminton World Federation (BWF), a country may have three campaigners in the Singles event only if all of their shuttlers are ranked as the top four players in the world.
World Number five shuttler Chen Jin is desperately looking to elevate his status in world rankings as his compatriots World Number two Lin Dan and Number three Chen Long have already secured their berths in the 2012 London Olympics.
Now if Chen Jin wants to represent China he will be looking to unseat World Number four Peter Hoeg Gade before May 3 world rankings.
He is well aware that any blunder can harm his stakes in mega event as he vowed to stay positive and keep himself immune from injuries.
Chen Jin said, "The campaign is just like life. I always remind myself that I have to be confident, but at the same time, I have to withstand the pressure. I'm now focused on keeping my form, while trying not to be injured."
The Chinese maestro opened his campaign with back-to-back victories in the Swiss Open and Australian Open and now he is on the right track in Badminton Asia Championships as he thrashed Chong Wei Feng in opening match.
Chen Jin sealed the victory in just two games but he admitted that he was bit off colour against his lower ranked Malaysian opponent.
He said, "The first set I was a bit irritable, but in the second I gradually found the rhythm."
Though, he has earned some valuable ranking points which have raised his chances to make into top four positions but he will be looking to continue his form in ongoing Badminton Asia event and upcoming India Open.
Chen Jin revealed his strategy for last stages of qualification period and stated that he is focusing on his mental strength rather than of technical and physical.
He said, "In the final period of the qualification, the top priority is not technic, but mindset. I am trying to maintain a good mindset."
In last edition of Olympics as well, Chen Jin received a delayed entry and he is confident that he will earn his seat in coming edition of Olympics by applying his experience and brilliance in the game.
