The ruling World Champion, Chen, got an easy straight-set victory over the talented Zhengming, who defeated the former Olympic Gold medallist and World Champion, Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia in the round-of-16 and Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the quarter-final

In the first set, Chen, who is the current World Number Nine, opened the game in remarkable fashion by playing perfectly in all corners of the court. Zhengming struggled hard to find any sort of flow against his experienced team-mate, who made his opponent
work really hard to return the perfectly placed strokes.
At the interval in the opening half, Chen was ahead at 11-8 against Zhengming, who was not playing at his best as he was clearly lacking the spark in his movement.

by winning the opening set with a 21-17 margin, in 20 minutes.

miles ahead of his challenger by reaching at 11-5.
After the interval, Zhengming tried to fight back by changing his tactics, but failed against Chen, who was not leaving any room for his opponent to score points. Chen clinched the second set with in an impressive fashion with a 21-11 score, in just 14 minutes.
