Chen Jin outplays Kento Momota in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Badminton Asia Championships
China’s former World Champion Chen Jin continued his wonderful performance when he toppled Japan’s Kento Momota in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at the Badminton Asia Championship 2012 at Qingdao, China, on Thursday, April 19.
The World Number Five Jin, who has been positioned at number three in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship, proved his elite skills and thrashed the lower ranked Japanese opponent in a fascinating manner.
Jin did not waste much time in the court as he took only 33 minutes to chuck out Momota in a straight-set contest without showing even a least amount of mercy.
On the other hand, Momota could not put up strong resistance in the game as he failed to match the speed and perfection of Jin and crashed out without building a strong impact.
Right from the starting points of opening game, Jin showed his supremacy in the court as he kept the pace of rallies at the maximum level and remained positive in the court.
In the meanwhile, Momota tried to play competitive badminton but could not match the skills of his higher ranked Chinese opponent and remained far behind until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Jin continued his impressive performance without dropping the pace of rallies and also kept his Japanese challenger moving around in the court.
Jin did not show mercy to Momota in the whole opening contest and easily bagged it with a spectacular 21-10 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Momota tried to live up to expectations by playing fast badminton but failed to break the defence of his Chinese opponent who was quite comfortable in the court.
In the meanwhile, the higher ranked Jin remained positive and quicker in all areas and did not slow down his speed at any stage in the opening half of second game.
Until the break, Jin was miles ahead of Momota as he took a wonderful lead on the board.
After the interval, Jin continued his elevated and thrilling run in the match and did not face any interruption from his opponent at any stage. He bagged the game with a remarkable margin of 21-10.
Jin emerged as victorious in this one-sided contest with a tremendous 21-10 and 21-10 score on the board.
