Chen Jin stands a chance of earning a ticket to London Olympics 2012
The Chinese ace Chen Jin stands a chance of earning a ticket to the London Olympics as he gets a perfect opportunity to win some crucial world ranking points in absence of Lee Chong Wei, Chen Long and Peter Hoeg Gade in the Yonex German Open.
The World Number five Chen Jin is striving to be in the top four players of the world to cement his spot in the London Olympics 2012.
According to World Badminton Federation’s rule, three players from a country can participate in the Olympics only if they are in the top four. The World Number two Lin Dan and World Number three Chen Long have already secured their berths from China and
now Chen Jin needs to snatch fourth spot from the Danish player Peter Gade in the world rankings.
The Chinese shuttler Chen Jin is in Olympics qualifying period and he desperately wants to break in the top four before the period ends in May otherwise he will not have the honours to be part of the mega event as only two players will represent the country
if it has more than two players in top 16 of world rankings.
This makes every match a decider for Chen Jin and fortunately, he has an open chance of bagging few world-ranking points to lift up his ranking as his Danish rival World Number four Peter Gade has decided not to participate in the German Open.
The two other top ranked shuttlers, World Number one Lee Chong Wei and World Number three Chen Long, are also focusing on All England Championships and not exhibiting their skills in the German Open.
This puts Chen Jin in ideal situation and he could be the biggest beneficiary as he has a clear way to the finals of the event and only his compatriot Lin Dan will be a possible hurdle in his way to glory.
China may ask his prime shuttler Lin Dan to lose against Chen Jin just to give him a chance to elevate his world rankings as China has done this in past also by withdrawing Lin Dan against Chen Long last year and Chen Long successfully surged into top four.
