Chen Jin, the ruling world champion from China is working hard to find the momentum
China’s Chen Jin, who is occupying the seventh place in the world rankings, is one of the top badminton players on the planet in the category of Men’s Singles. The Chinese has achieved the biggest title of his career by winning the 2010 World Badminton
Championships, in Paris. However, he has lost his form and is working very hard to find the momentum to get at the top.
This year has not brought him anything impressive as he was not able to reach even in the finals of any of the major tournaments held in the opening four months of 2011. His quivering start this year is quite alarming as he is the reigning world champion
and will be defending his title in the 2011 World Badminton Championships, starting from August 8, at London England.
The 25-year-old Chinese shuttler has been fluctuating in the top ten positions in world rankings since 2007. He grabbed the World Number Two ranking in 2007 just for a few weeks and it was his best ranking so far. Chen Jin won the Asian Junior Badminton
Championships in 2004 and entered in the arena of the gladiators of badminton. He started competing with the top players from all over the world and proved his worth by making great performances.
In year 2004, he emerged victorious in two events, first was the Polish Open and the second was French Open. In 2006, he won German Open Badminton Championship and also clinched the prestigious event of 2006 China Masters. In the following year he
delivered a remarkable run in the 2007 Swiss Open and grabbed the title by beating some of the best players in the World of Badminton. In the same year he also emerged as the winner of the Macau Open.
The 2008 was the most successful year for Chen as compared to the previous years. He won China Masters for the second time and also emerged victorious in the prestigious event of the 2008 All England Open Badminton Championships, against the world’s
best player and compatriot, Lin Dan. In 2008 Beijing Olympics he won the bronze medal by beating Lee Hyun-il from Korea.
Chen Jin is also one of the main players of China Badminton team for Thomas Cup. India was the host of the World Championships of 2009, where Chen Jin lost to his impressive team-mate Lin Dan, who won the title of World Championship for the third time.
The following year proved to be the most successful year in the career of this passionate shuttler. In 2010, Chen Jin won the Swiss Open Super Series and also continued his superb run in the Thomas Cup Finals 2010, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After
winning the Thomas Cup 2010, he clinched the title of World Championship by beating the former World and Olympic Champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia.
Throughout his professional career he has been proving himself against the best shuttlers of the world. However, bad patches are also a part of the professional life of players. Chen Jin is facing a hard time to get back his momentum.
Chen is yet to win any event after the 2010 World Championships. In the opening four months of 2011 he failed to produce any notable performance. He was missing the form which brought him the title of World Champion. In August 2011, he will be defending
his title in Wembley, London where World Badminton Championships will take place.
This great shuttler desperately needs the impressive touch which is quite essential to compete against the more experienced shuttlers from all over the world in the mega event.
