Chen Long casts out Hu Yun in semi-final round of 2012 BWF Superseries Finals
Men’s Singles expert Chen Long remained invincible also in the semi-final round and qualified for the title match of BWF Superseries Finals on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
The Chinese maestro outshined Hu Yun of Hong Kong in a short-lived tussle that concluded with decisive figures of 21-10 and 21-18.
World Number two player Chen Long employed all of his brilliance and experience to stretch his winning streak and he hit the mark in style.
He earned great deal of admiration from local crowd of Shenzhen for putting a commendable show of skills.
Hu Yun, who holds 14th spot in world ranking, was no comparison to the Chinese shuttler as he failed to pocket even a single match point.
Things went out of his hands straight away in the first set as he could not withstand the intensive attack of his rival.
On the other hand, Chen Long mounted pressure by clinching few valuable points in a row and then magnified the impact with an impressive total before the interval.
He unleashed a series of productive strokes and finished first half of the set with a respectable margin of 11.
This initial advantage gave him a real boost and he strengthened his grip by prevailing in few back-to-back rallies.
In third quarter of the set, Chen Long injected more intensity in his attack and confined his competitor in the rear court.
He did not allow his challenger to narrow the gap and finished this set with a significant margin of 21-10.
The following game started with some back-to-back gruelling rallies as both contenders strived hard to establish a comfortable lead.
They pushed each other in all areas of the court and made the crowd gasp with their breath-taking performance.
Initially, Hu Yun was in strong position to avoid a straight-set defeat but then few unforced errors triggered the collapse.
He kept trailing behind his opponent all the way to game point situation and finally knelt down after reading an overwhelming score on the board.
The Chinese shuttler played flawless badminton and locked the honour with a tight yet decisive figure of 21-18.
