Chen Long crushes Kenichi Tago to storm into Men’s Singles semi-final at Li Ning China Open 2012
China’s in-form player Chen Long cheered his home fans by securing his place into Men’s Singles semi-final after crushing Japan’s Kenichi Tago in quarter-final clash at the Li Ning Chine Open 2012 at Shanghai, on Friday, November 16.
The impressive Long, who is World Number Three and top seeded in the tournament, showed a great performance in the arena as he did not face even a slight wobble all the way and wrapped up victory in 40 minutes.
Long was not in a mood to let his Japanese rival find a good flow as he played with incredible speed and managed to end up the contest in straight sets with a stunning margin on score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Kenichi could not put up strong show as he failed to maintain a good rhythm.
Japanese player remained unable to create any trouble for his Chinese rival and lost to him without showing a strong character.
In the first game, the impressive Long played with impressive speed in the arena as he executed powerful shots with dictating control in all areas and took a reasonable lead at the early stage.
Chinese shuttler was in tremendous form as he did not spare any room for his rival to put up strong show and stayed ahead on score board until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Long continued playing in the similar way and he did not show any mercy to Kenichi all the way to grab the game with a huge 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, the lower ranked Japanese shuttler tried his best to play positive badminton but he remained unable to match the speed of his Chinese rival and stayed behind on score board until the break.
After the break, Long entertained the crowd with his hard-to-learn skills that helped him to put pressure on his Japanese opponent and he won the second game with a staggering 21-12 score on the board.
The top seeded Long remained successful in winning this quarter-final battle in straight games with a controlled margin of 21-13 and 21-12.
