Chen Long crushes Sony Dwi Kuncoro to ease into Men’s Singles semi-final at Yonex Denmark Open 2012
China’s Chen Long proved his worth in the arena and eased into Men’s Singles semi-final after putting up spectacular show of top class badminton against Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro in quarter-final clash at the Yonex Denmark Open 2012 on Friday, October
19, in Denmark.
The second seeded Long, who is currently World Number Three in Men’s Singles world placements, was in remarkable form as he did not show any mercy to his opponent and easily grabbed victory in a comprehensive fashion.
Long played his normal badminton without taking pressure of being higher ranked in the arena and remained successful in beating his Indonesian opponent in straight games with a one-sided margin in 41 minutes.
The lower ranked Kuncoro, on the other hand, failed to put up strong show as he was unable to defend to the powerful smashes of his aggressive Chinese opponent and crashed out without staying consistent.
In the starting points of opening set, both shuttlers put up wonderful show of top class badminton and stayed close until the score reached at 4-4.
However, the higher ranked Chinese shuttler geared up his speed in all areas of the court and remained successful in setting up superb lead of 11-5 until the end of first half.
After the one-minute break, Long did not show any respect to his Indonesian rival as he played in the similar fashion without missing any chance to stretch his lead.
Chinese player was in commanding position and he did not commit any mistake throughout the concluding phase and eventually won the set with a huge 21-8 score on the board.
In the following set, Kuncoro played with aggression this time and he did not let his challenger to set up even a small lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Long changed his tactics and played attacking badminton by dominating the pace of rallies and remained successful in winning the battle with a 21-15 score on the board.
The in-form Chinese shuttler stormed into semi-final after showing exit to Kuncoro in straight games with a huge margin of 21-8 and 21-15.
