Chen Long hammers Parupalli Kashyap in Men’s Singles encounter – Sudirman Cup 2013
China’s top player, Chen Long, showed his aggression and control on court to wrap up a lopsided victory in Men’s Singles contest against India’s Parupalli Kashyap at Sudirman Cup 2013 in Malaysia, on Sunday,
May 19.
The higher ranked Long, who is number two in Men’s Singles world rankings, played top class badminton and he easily registered a comprehensive victory over his Indian challenger while consuming just 33 minutes.
Long was at his best in the arena, as he was quite smooth in his fast movements at the court. He did not face any trouble in winding up the match in straight sets with a stunning margin of 21-11 and 21-9.
On the other hand, Kashyap was lacking the aggression and sting in his shots. He was helpless against the attacking play of his Chinese opponent and lost the match with a humiliating margin on the score board.
In the opening set, the aggressive Long showed a tremendous performance on court and executed strokes with remarkable variations from opening rallies.
The lanky Chinese man proved that he belongs to the highest class of player by putting up superb show of his top quality skills in the arena. He occupied the driving seat from the starting points. Long did not
show any sign of pressure and he remained in complete command of rallies until the end of first half.
The contest proceeded in the similar way after the mid-game interval, as Long did not lose his commanding position in the arena. He remained consistent in employing powerful shots in targeted areas and eventually
bagged the first set with a staggering 21-11 total on the score board.
Things were identical in the second game of this entertaining match, with the in-form Chinese player continuing his aggressive approach. The Chinese entertained the crowd with his unparalleled skills that assisted
him to put pressure on his opponent who failed to find positive run.
Long continued putting up comfortable performance in the ending part of second game and remained successful in securing the set with a superb 21-9 score on score board.
