Chen Long punishes R. M. V. Gurusaidutt in Men’s Singles quarter-final at Li Ning China Masters
Chen Long, the impressive shuttler from China, continued sheering his home fans as he secured his place in Men’s Singles semi-final after showing a spectacular show of top quality badminton in quarter-final showdown against India’s R. M. V. Gurusaidutt at
the Li Ning China Masters 2012 on Friday, September 14, in China.
The Olympic bronze medallist Long, who is currently World Number Three and top seeded player in Men’s Singles draw in the tournament, played incredible game against his lower ranked Indian rival and easily advanced into the next stage.
Long was on a different level as he played attacking badminton while moving fast in all areas of the court and easily overpowered over his rival by ending up the match in straight games with a huge margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the World Number 55 Gurusaidutt failed to stretch his winning run in the tournament as he could not match the speed and skills of his rival and eventually bowed down to him without creating any considerable impact on the crowd.
Right from the opening points of first set, the Chinese shuttler played controlled and dominating game without showing any respect to his rival.
Chinese shuttler was in tremendous form on court as he showed a strong character by taking a huge lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the incredible Long continued putting up attacking show as he took the bird early from all areas and made a good use of his powerful smashes followed by net killings which helped him to wrap up the first set with a crushing margin of
21-8.
The second game was also the same when Long remained consistent in his fast and aggressive play and took a wonderful lead until the mid-game interval.
Top seeded Long remained at his best as he played to his maximum potential and he did not spare any chance for his opponent to reduce the difference at any stage. He finished up the set in a smashing fashion with a 21-12 score on the board.
The lofty Chinese player thrashed Gurusaidutt in a dominating manner in straight sets with a one-sided margin of 21-8 and 21-12.
