Chen Long tames Hu Yun to claim Men’s Singles title at Li Ning China Masters Super Series 2012
China’s Chen Long proved his supremacy in the arena as he claimed Men’s Singles title after putting up staggering show in the final battle against Hong Kong’s Hu Yun at the Li Ning China Masters Super Series 2012 at Changzhou, China, on Sunday, September
16.
The World Number Three Long, who was top seeded player in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, showed his elevated craft and gave a severe lesson to his lower ranked challenger Yun in a completely authoritative manner.
Long was on a different level in the title match as he cheered his home fans by playing flawless badminton and remained impressive in all areas of the court to end up the battle with a crushing margin in straight games.
In the meanwhile, the World Number 21 Yun failed to live up to expectations as he could not maintain his aggressive run on court while playing against his Chinese rival and eventually knelt down to Long without proving his worth.
In the first game, both shuttlers played attacking badminton and remained close at the opening stage as Yun did not let his top-seeded opponent to take a comfortable lead.
However, Long played dominating game towards the end of opening half and took a reasonable lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the top seeded Long played with remarkable precision and stretched his lead without facing any trouble from his rival.
Chinese shuttler played with confidence and remained successful in taking the opening set with a 21-11 score on the board.
The second game was thrilling in opening half when Yun put up strong resistance on court and remained close until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Chinese shuttler extended his lead on board as he played with tremendous precision. He did not commit silly mistakes at this crucial stage and kept an upper hand over Yun.
The perfect smashes and incredible speed helped Long to finish off the second game in an easy manner with a striking 21-13 score on the board.
Long showed his class on court and made his fans happy by winning the final battle in straight games with a crushing margin of 21-11 and 21-13.
