Chen Long topples Chen Jin to win Men’s Singles title of the 2011 Li Ning China Masters Super Series
China’s Chen Long proved his mettle as he stunned country-mate and former World Champion, Chen Jin in the Men’s Singles final and clinched the title of 2011 Li Ning China Masters Super Series. The encounter was held in China, on Sunday, September 18.
World Number Four, Long was the third seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the Championship. He delivered remarkable performances throughout the event by playing to his full potential and grabbed a well-deserved title by beating his experienced opponent in
the title match of the event.
Long opened the game in a positive manner as he played safe strokes to avoid errors. Jin played with aggression, but his effort was not enough to put pressure on his opponent who was quicker in taking the bird from everywhere in the court. The third seed
effectively employed his wonderful smashes which destroyed the defensive skills of his senior rival. Until the break, Long was leading the battle with an 11-8 margin.
After the break, both shuttlers delivered a wonderful performance in the initial points of the second-half. However, the former Junior World Champion, Long started to stretch his lead and remained successful in winning the first game by a decent margin of
21-16. He worked hard for 24 minutes in the court.
The second game of this fabulous fight between the two elite shuttlers from China was a thriller for the huge crowd, as both players put up a superb show of quality badminton. They displayed a complete game by employing everything they had to dominate the
game. The exchange of long rallies coupled with aggressive strokes engaged the crowd throughout the second game. The score remained close until the one-minute break in the set.
After the break, the tussle started again and both shuttlers progressed closely until the score reached at 20-20. At this breath-taking stage, Long played impressive badminton and emerged as the winner of the second game by a 22-20 margin in 29 minutes.
This Men’s Singles final fight ended with the victory of Long, who finished-off the match with a 21-16 and 22-20 margin, in 54 minutes.
