Chen Ruolin and Wang Hao conquer Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform heat – 18th FINA Diving World Cup
Chinese duo of Chen Ruolin and Wang Hao smothered all struggles of their competitors by conquering top spot in the Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform qualifying round on day three of the 18th Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA)
Visa Diving World Cup 2012 at the Aquatics Centre, Olympic Park in London on Wednesday, February 22.
The FINA World Cup is a seven-day event that gives an opportunity to all world-class divers to participate in their exclusive events and overcome their deficiencies before the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The Chinese pair demonstrated their dazzling efforts in the 10m Synchronised discipline and remained unimaginably ahead of their challengers throughout the event. They scored a magnificent score of 340.08 points.
They were trailed by Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch of Great Britain, who stayed 20.22 points behind them and qualified into the playoff with a score of 319.86 points. Subsequently, the British pair experienced strong resistance from Malaysia’s Mun Yee Leong
and Pandelela Rinong Pamg, who were just 1.44 points away from overpowering their former finishers’ efforts and notched up 318.42 points.
The fourth qualifying spot of the event was secured by Alexandra Croak and Melissa Wu of Australia, who remained almost seven points behind their preceding pair and gathered 311.94 points.
The Australian duo enjoyed an advantage of 0.60 points over Russia’s Ekaterina Petukhova and Yulia Koltunova, who seized fifth finest qualification spot of the event with a struggle of 310.56 points.
Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion stayed marginally away from their foregoing duo and settled on the overall rankings table for sixth position by accomplishing 307.68 points.
They were trailed by Paola Espinosa and Alejandra Orozco of Mexico, who raked 301.74 points and obtained seventh best position.
The eighth qualification spot of the discipline was secured by Amy Cozad and Laura Ryan of USA, who was nearly 10 points away from the Mexican pair as they accomplished 291.54 points.
The session ended after the completion of all listed events whereas these finalists will have the chance to upset each other by proving their eligibility for gold medal in the final round.
