Chen Ruolin impresses in Women's 10m Platform meet: Day six – 2011 World Diving Championships
Chen Ruolin of China impressed the Shanghai Aquatic arena in the final of Women’s 10m Platform diving meet on the sixth day of the ongoing 2011 World Diving Championships in China, on Thursday, July 21.
Ruolin won the gold medal of the 10m discipline, by achieving a wonderful score of 405.30 points in the final round. She was 11.30 points ahead of her following diver and her team-member, Hu Yadan, who secured the silver medal of the event, with an astonishing
score of 394.00 points.
Chinese divers have been dominating the diving events so far, as they have captured the titles of all diving meet conducted in these World Diving Championships. Ruolin’s phenomenal effort has honoured China with the nation’s seventh consecutive gold medal
of the 14th Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) organised world titles.
Yadan was followed by Mexican diver, Paola Espinosa, who stayed almost seventeen points behind her and stepped on the podium for bronze medal, with a nice score of 377.15 points. She was followed by Meaghan Benfeito of Canada, who gained fourth fastest spot
with a score of 375.50 points. In the meantime, Pandelela Rinong of Malaysia settled as the fifth best diver on the overall points table, with her score of 355.85 points.
Ukraine’s Yulia Prokopchuk, who stayed nearly 15 points behind the fifth finisher, managed to earn the sixth position of the event, as she claimed a score of 340.15 points. Alexandra Croak of Australia was named as the seventh position holder of the 10m
discipline, as she stayed almost three points behind Prokopchuk and accomplished a score of 337.75 points. The eighth best spot was secured by Roseline Filion of Canada, who got a score of 333.00 points.
Ruolin was extremely happy to win a world title and contributing another gold medal to her country. In addition, the crowd appreciated the terrific efforts of all divers participating in the 10m Platform meet, while the winners were awarded with medals and
accolades after the completion of session.
