Chen Yuekun defeats Yuki Kaneko in Men’s Singles first round of Malaysia Grand Prix Gold 2013
China’s upcoming player Chen Yuekun showed a great performance in Men’s Singles first round when he outplayed Japan’s Yuki Kaneko in a dominating manner at the Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Grand Prix Gold 2013 on Tuesday, April 30, in Malaysia.
The aggressive Yuekun, who is the ninth seed in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, started his campaign in a completely dominating fashion and remained successful in outplaying his lower ranked Japanese challenger in just 24 minutes.
Chinese shuttler showed a wonderful performance by taking the bird timely from all areas and he remained successful in giving a severe treatment to his un-seeded challenger by winding up the contest in straight sets with a superb margin of 21-9 and 21-15.
On the contrary, the lower ranked Kaneko failed to respond positively to his higher ranked Chinese challenger. He could not put up strong show at any stage and also committed many unforced errors that
Yuekun played with terrific control in his shots and managed to occupy the driving seat from starting points of the opening game.
The hard-to-learn variations in Yuekun’s shots helped him to maintain his supremacy against his challenger on court. He did not let his Japanese rival to catch up the pace of rallies at any stage.
It was Yuekun who showed no respect to his spirited rival in the starting half and secured a comfortable lead in the arena.
The battle progressed in the same manner after the one-minute interval as Yuekun did not lose his control in the arena.
Yuekun did not slow down the pace of rallies at any stage and comfortably bagged the first set with a superb 21-9 margin on the board.
Kaneko increased his speed to play tricky badminton in the first half of second game but could not construct pressure on his rival.
Yuekun entertained the crowd with his tremendous craft that assisted him to maintain pressure on his rival who could not find positive run.
Chinese shuttler was calm and positive in the arena in the concluding points of second set and claimed the second game with a comfortable difference of 21-15.
