Chen Yuekun ousts Chong Wei Feng in Men’s Singles first round of 2011 Macau Open Grand Prix
China’s emerging young shuttler, Chen Yuekun has delivered wonderful performance as he has ousted Malaysia’s Chong Wei Feng in the Men’s Singles first round of the 2011 Macau Open Grand Prix, on Tuesday, November 29, in Macau.
The young Chinese stunned the experienced Malaysian in the opening match by beating him in three games. Wei Feng failed to tackle the aggression of his Chinese opponent and lost the rubber-set match after struggling hard for 51 minutes.
The opening set of the match was interesting when both shuttlers played attacking game and remained close until the ending points when Wei Feng remained successful in winning it. The spirited Chinese bounced back in the match and took the remaining both
games and emerged as the winner of the battle.
In the opening set, the fight was very tight and interesting as both shuttlers tackled each other in a wonderful way by keeping the speed at the highest level. They remained close until the ending points of the game by playing with speed and power. At this
stage, the experienced Malaysian played well and maintained pressure on his young opponent. Yuekun failed to play positive game in the end and lost the set with a 19-21 score.
In the second game, Chinese bounced back in the match as he played positive and attacking badminton. Wei Feng failed to continue his positive run in the match as he missed many chances of earning points. The aggression of the Chinese helped him to win the
set with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
In the final set, Yuekun continued his dominating run against the Malaysian by playing at his best. He was quicker in taking the bird early at the net and also worked well in the rear-court area. His powerful smashes were landing in the right areas and he
spared no room for Wei Feng to resist in the game.
The Chinese took the deciding game with a 21-14 margin. The final score of this Men’s Singles first round fight was 19-21, 21-16 and 21-14.
