Chennai Super Kings’ South African all-rounder Albie Morkel believes that it will be difficult for him to reach the bar set by former compatriot Lance Klusener.
Morkel said he will be content if he is able to be half as good as the all-rounder he idolises.
“Lance Klusener is one of my idols. If I can be half the player he was, I will be happy,” Morkel claimed.
In an Indian Premier League match of the ongoing season against Deccan Chargers on Sunday, Morkel scored 19 runs off 6 balls, plundering 3 towering sixes. He then went on to claim three wickets for his side in the second half of the match.
He aided the Super Kings to a convincing 19-run victory against the Chargers in the fixture at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Super Kings set a target of 166 runs for the Chargers, which the Deccan side failed to achieve and only managed to score
146 from their allotted overs.
The left-handed batsman and right-arm bowler explained how tough it is to go out in the middle and start hitting right away.
“It is not easy to hit in the end overs, especially if you get only 6-7 balls per match. I had to practice hard,” Morkel admitted in the post match presentation ceremony.

“Albie really finished the game well today. Lots of teams put emphasis in the last six, we look to capitalise on the last 4-5 overs. Even if me and Anirudha are not able to do it, Badri manages to do it in the end and ends up with a healthy strike rate,”
said Dhoni.
