Chennai Super Kings Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni glad to see team in play-offs
Chennai Super Kings captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, was delighted that Monday’s win over the Rajasthan Royals has assured his side a berth in the Indian Premier League’s play-offs.
"It's good to be in the reckoning for the play-offs without leaving it for too late," said the captain.
Chennai earned a convincing 63-run victory over Rajasthan Royals yesterday, on May 9, 2011 to stay in the mix for the post season spot.
The Rajasthan Royals failed to reach the intimidating target of 196 runs set by Chennai and got bundled out for a paltry 133 runs.
Dhoni, who ventured onto the crease at number 4, made 41 runs off 19 balls.
“We had one extra batsman in the playing XI today, which allowed us to go harder. It was between Albie Morkel and me. I pushed myself up, and I am glad that I scored some runs,” Dhoni elaborated.
He added that the wicket at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur favoured the batsman, allowing them to hit big runs.
"I didn't score in the last match. The batting was poor in the last game, but the platform was good this time from (Michael) Hussey and (Murali) Vijay, and Raina capitalised," he said.
Chennai’s opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murali-Vijay-c78035, who earned the title of the Player of the Match, attributed the victory to the team, saying that their combined effort paid off.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals captain, Shane Warne, who is performing in his final Indian Premier League season, embraced the defeat graciously. The legendary leg spinner lauded the Chennai squad for their brilliant performance, saying that they played well to deserve
the win.
Despite suffering a mighty scare at the hands of Chennai, Shane Warne is hoping for a turnaround in their next IPL fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore, on May 11, 2011 at Jaipur.
"Our next game at home against Bangalore is massive, hope to win that one and give us a chance."
He showered praised on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970, who put the opposition to the sword with 7 boundaries, emerging as the top scorer for their side with 52 runs off 36 balls.
