Chennai Super Kings defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore in Indian Premier League
CSK 183/5 in 20 overs RCB 162/7 in 20 overs
Chennai Super Kings bounced back from a defeat in their last game to hand Royal Challengers Bangalore a 21-run loss, in an important match of the Indian Premier League 2011 played at Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.
Batting first the big CSK total revolved around a scintillating innings by Australian batting mainstay Mike Hussey, who scored an unbeaten 83 off 56 balls, his innings was studded with 11 fours and one big six.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murali-Vijay-c78035 scored a quick fire 31 off 21 balls, his innings included 3 fours and 2 big sixes, and he was dismissed by Ryan Ninan. The Indian pair of Suresh Raina and Captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni was also pivotal in pushing the score forward, Raina scored
29 while Dhoni scored 22 runs off 16 balls.
Johan Van Der Wath and Ninan were the two main wicket takers.
However, Van Der Wath conceded 49 runs in his 4 overs while Ninan took 2 wickets in his 3 overs conceding 31 runs.
The steep target set by the Super Kings was a herculean challenge for the Challengers, who had to score at a high rate from the outset.
The start was a poor one for the visitors, who lost the first three wickets for only 31 runs. The opening pair of Albie Morkel and Tim Southee tightened the screws around the inexperienced top order batting sans Tillakaratne Dilshan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424, and, AB
de Villiers, were the two batsmen that the Challengers were relying on most to haul down the target after the demise of Dilshan.
Kohli played a breezy knock of 35 runs, he failed to carry on and his loss gave further momentum to the Super Kings.
On the other hand, the talented South African, de Villiers, continued to stroke the ball hard. He scored 65 runs off 44 balls before falling to his national teammate, Morkel.
The wicket of de Villiers turned the match towards the Super Kings, who did not relinquish their grip, for the remainder of the match.
Suraj Randiv and Morkel were the top wicket takers for the winners, both chipped in with two scalps each.
