Chennai v Bangalore - Chennai Super Kings struggle against Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were struggling in the 69th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in India.
The visitors only managed 36 runs for the loss of four wickets at the end of the first 10 overs of their innings.
Toss was won by the RCB’s skipper, Daniel Vettori, who chose to field first. The pitch had some grass on it and also looked damp, which suggested that the ball will do some tricks in the first half of the match.
However, Vettori expected a high scoring game, saying, “The track has always runs in it; it will be a high-scoring game. Teams have got an eye on the semis as well. We have tried to put a full-strength side. There have been a few changes. If we can keep
a team under 180, it will be a good job.”
Chennai’s opening batsman, Michael Hussey, was a bit concerned over the wicket and stated, “There is some grass on it and it might do a little bit early on. We have to assess the pitch and the target after you bat a few overs.”
The Australian was rightly concerned, as the ball moved a lot off the seam and swung in the air as well, causing difficulties for the batsmen. He was the first man to be dismissed after adding just four runs to the total.
Hussey was cleaned up by an in-swinging delivery by Zaheer Khan. The ball pitched on the off-stump and came in sharply, hitting the stumps.
Murali Vijay was the next man to be dismissed after a struggling six runs off nine balls. He fished at one out-swinging delivery and was pouched brilliantly by wicketkeeper, AB de Villiers.
Just one run later, Suresh Raina was also sent back to the pavilion. He only managed four runs in his short stay at the crease. Subramaniam Badrinath was also unable to make an impression, as he was dismissed for a duck.
CSK’s skipper, MS Dhoni, and Wriddhiman Saha were unbeaten on 6 and 12 runs respectively, until half way through their innings.
Zaheer Khan was the pick of the Chennai bowlers, taking two early wickets in the match.
