Chennai Super Kings through to Champions League Final
Chennai Super Kings earned their place in the final of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament with a semi-final with a victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kingsmead.
Suresh Raina set the pace for the Chennai Super Kings as he hit 94 not out, off just 48 deliveries, that set up a 52-run Duckworth/http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lewis-c72807 win.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 batsman, who came in when the score was 19-1, struck six sixes and five boundaries in his innings as Chennai set a 175 target in just 17 overs, which was revised to 176 after more than two-and-a-half hours were lost due to rain.
Chennai, the Indian Premier League champions, won the toss and batted but did not make a flying start with the first boundary coming in the third over and then the rain arrived. The resumption of play did nothing to help the Super Kings as Mike Hussey was out (six) to an outstanding running catch by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 Steyn at mid-off.
But the wicket came at a heavy cost to Bangalore because South African paceman injured his neck in the fall and he had to be helped off the field.
That left the fielding captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 off the bowling of Vinay Kumar.
Undeterred, Raina maintained his relentless assault on the bowling, scoring 55 from 29 balls.
At the change Doug Bollinger (3-27) and Albie Morkel (1-13) completed the job despite Manish Pandey (52) making a half-century and Chennai will now play the winners of the second semi-final, between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 and the Warriors, in the final on Sunday.
