Chennai Super Kings 158/6 (20/20 ov) v Lions 159/4 (19.3/20 ov) - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 won by 6 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
Things are certainly not looking well for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, since he is on the receiving end both as the Indian captain and now as the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings, with the Kings losing their Champions League Twenty20 Group B match against Lions by six wickets on Tuesday, at Newlands, Cape Town.
After failing to defend a decent total of 158, Dhoni in his post-match ceremony said, “We got off to a very good start, we lost too many wickets in the middle, so we were not able to slog the way we could have, but we still got the score we wanted. I think 160 was a good score. The timing of the no-balls was crucial. Small things matter. All of a sudden the momentum shifted, they were able to score a lot more freely. The quicks were bowling well [so gave them three overs each at the start]."
With a staggering bowling attack on paper, Chennai looked colourless on the field, as their bowlers could grab only four wickets, failing to stop the Lions from reaching the required target.
Earlier, the Chennai batsmen dominated the opposition while batting first, giving an impressive performance by piling a fightable total.
However, it was their fielding and bowling that let them down today and even after getting off to a sensational start, they could not maintain the momentum.
Having taken their first wicket without a run on the board, Chennai were in a commanding position.
Then after conceding only eight runs, they secured their second wicket and looked well set to hand Lions a big defeat.
However, the partnership between GH Bodi and ND http://www.senore.com/Cricket/McKenzie-c75497 changed everything for Chennai as the duo steered their side to 101 before Bodi lost his wicket after scoring 64 off 46 deliveries.
Then with 115 on the board, veteran McKenzie also found his way off the field after hammering 32 runs.
Nonetheless, J Symes (39) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Morris-c49501 (12) batted their side across the finish line in 19.3 overs.
