  1. CHENNAI IS Metropolitan, crowded and polluted city.

    FOOD ;- Special south Indian Rice meal to international dishes are available.

    Have a taste of Chennai, People and food are good.


  2. i am from chennai. Its a very nice city. You may have to learn a little bit of tamil u noe....the basic stuff. The food usually consists of

    Break fast

    Idli, Dosa, uthappam, pongal and all different types of dosas. It depends on the restaurant. I would recommend Sangeetha. Its all veg. I dont know non veg restaurants coz i am a vegetarian.

    Lunch

    Rice with sambar or rasam or curd. It also has Kootu, poriyal, and a sweet. usually carrot halwa.

    Dinner

    You get all sorts of fod. You can try anything you like. Its usually similar to lunch.



    Have fun. Use sunscreen.

  4. Chennai is one of the four metropolitan city.  Spaciality food of Chennai are Dosa/ Idli/ Vada with Sambar & chattni.  Many other food like sweet & khara Pongal, Upma, Thair Vade & Veg. South Indian Meals.

  5. Chennai is just crowded like any other major cities in India.  I can tell about vegetarian ones.

    Try idli, vada

    Dosa - Masala Dosa or Plain Dosa

    Idiyappam

    Vadakari

    Pongal

    Above are some of the popular breakfast dish.

    Apart from this, for supper, I like to have "Kothu Paratha" - which will be worth trying.

  9. There are huge varieties of food based on different districts of tamilnadu  like chettinad,kongu,tirunelveli,madurai etc.,

    The common varieties are idly sambhar as in rathna cafe triplicane.

    other varieties include

    kuzhi paniyaram,

    puttu,

    idiyappam and paya(veg),

    uppuma,

    pongal

    kitchidi,

    set dosai with vadaicurry,

    masala dosai, ghee roast,paper roast, podi dosai,

    medhu vadai,masalvadai,

    bonda both mysore and potato based,

    bajji(onion/plantain)

    etc.,

    Non  veg includes

    chicken gravy(kozhumbu) different types based on regions.

    attukaal soup( goats leg soup)

    crab curry (delicious depending on the  type of preparation)

    fish curries, fries, gravies

    and of course biriyani.

    There are of course sambhar (different types based on the  vegetables)

    rasam(different types) commonly called mulligawtawny soup.

    You have to stay not only in chennai for some time to taste the cuisine but also travel throughout tamilnadu to experience the regional variations of its cuisine, each with its own  taste. For e.g. taste of chicken curry is different in chennai and  karaikudi.

    no time to include other varieties but try the cuisine it atleast  once.
