Chennai or Kolkata to host IPL 6 players’ auction in January 2013 – Cricket News Update
The players’ auction for the sixth edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League will be held in January next year, either in Chennai or Kolkata, the governing council of the IPL decided in a meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
The IPL governing council, headed by Rajeev Shukla, met in Mumbai yesterday to discuss a number of pending issues, IPL-VI players’ action being at the top. According to sources in the IPL, the auction would take place either on January 12, 2013 in Chennai or in Kolkata on January 20.
The nine IPL franchises last month released 107 local and international players while retained 179 players – 120 Indian and 59 international – ahead of the IPL trading window, which was October 31. The 179 players retained by the franchises will remain with their respective teams on the same financial terms.
The franchises can also buy a maximum of eleven foreign players from the various domestic as well as international teams.
Pakistan players have been overlooked for auction after the first season in the aftermath of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in late December.
However, the sources claimed that a final decision on the participation of the Pakistani players will be taken by the governing council at its next meeting before the auction.

"The decision on Azharuddin's future in BCCI has been deferred. The working committee was undecided on whether to appeal against the decision or not," the sources stated.
