Chennai to Mysore via Bangalore. From Mysore to Mercara is 4 hours journey. From Bangalore to Merccara, district Head quarters of Coorg  should be 200/- by ord. Bus per head.

first, Chennai to bangalore.  Then take a bus/taxi/train to Mysore. There are direct train from Chennai to Mysore too. From mysore, coorg is around 120 KM.

It all depends on how you want to travel.

Coorg is nearest from Mysore. 2 hours by Taxi. One can take a taxi or  bus.

Coorg is quite cut off. High on Hills. And there is no conveyance there. We had taken a taxi from Bangalore and kept it during the period of stay.

If you are OK by it take a Bus up and down. And walk around. That is also possible and good if you are active.

So reach Bangalore or Mysore and take it from there. Lots of coaches go up and down.
