Chennai to vaitheeswaran koil bus service?

Could anyone please give me the bus service (preferably departure from chennai during night hrs ) available from Chennai to Vaitheesvaran koil ? What will be the approx. bus fare and also the boarding point at chennai?

Hi,

You can get lot of buses from Chennai to Vaitheeswaran koil. From Chennai CMBT lot of SETC and TNSTC (Kumbakonam) buses are operating to Mayiladuthurai. Vaitheeswaran koil 12 KM before Mayiladuthurai.

The bus route is, Chennai -- Pondicherry -- Cuddalore -- Chidambaram -- Sirkali -- Vaitheeswarankoil -- Mayiladuthurai.

In this route lot of OMNI buses also operating buses (Rathimeena, Universel, Happy Travels, KKR, Yasmin). But most of the buses in this route (both govt. and omni) are reaching Pondicherry through ECR. So those buses will not come to Thambaram. So you need to got Guindy or CMBT to get the buses.

In this route, SETC and TNSTC are operating ordinary, Semi-delux, delux and Ultra delux buses. The maximum fare in Ultra-delux buses is around 200/-. So you calculate the fare for other class buses.

In this route, OMNI buses are operating Delux, Semi-sleeper, sleeper and A/c Volvo buses. The fare is A/c Volvo - 320/-, Non-A/c buses (220-280).

If you want to board at Thambaram only means, you can get buses at Thambaram. But Buses to Mayiladuthurai are rare. You can get lot of buses to Chidamaram. But those buses are ordinary buses only and from Chidambaram you need to catch another bus to Vaideeswaram koil. The bus fare might be around 100 only.

The Distance from Chennai to Vaitheeswaran koil is as follows,

Chennai - Pondicherry - 170 KM(approximately)

Pondi - Cuddalore       - 24 KM

Cuddalore - Chidambaram - 48 KM

Chidambaram - VDKoil - 26 KM
