Question:

Cheques/Postal Orders?

Hi :)

I'm not able to get a Pay-Pal account, so my other options are to use cheques and postal orders as a method of payment for things I'm selling online. The thing is I live in Ireland, we use to euro, most of my buyers are from the UK so the cheques/postal orders would be in sterling. So how do I know the amount I'm getting? How does it work?

Also, could someone give me some advice about cashing cheques and postal orders, how does it work?

*I don't have a bank account.

  1. Postal money orders in Euros would be best for you, though the same in £ would be quite acceptable, I'm sure there are places in your area that can manage to change that for you. of course getting a bank account would also be nice and convenient at times.

  2. Ebay has a money convertor on it anyway so the buyer would make a postal order for X amount of euros, and when you recieve the postal order you just take it to the post office and they give you the money upfront. It's literally that simple you don't have to do any of the complicated bits :) hope this helps.

I think so anyway, or if not... the post office would pay you the equivalent in euros i think. And then if they didn't do that... the post office offers a currency exchange service anyway. Ha so complicated, again, I hope this helps :D
