Stanislav Cherchesov has ruled out selling the Brazilian striker this winter and has urged Terek Grozny to claim a higher place on the Russian Premier League table this season
Terek Grozny head coach, Stanislav Cherchesov, has denied the rumours linking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aílton-Almeida-c4096 with a host of top European clubs during the winter transfer window, insisting that the Brazilian striker will not leave the Russian Premier
League club any time sooner.
News in Russian media linked Almeida with a host of top Russian clubs including Lokomotiv and Dynamo Moscow following the player’s scintillating and jaw dropping performances in the ongoing campaign this term.
Almeida, who signed a three-year contract with the Russian outfit after leaving Apoel last summer, grabbed the headlines after scoring the a goal in his debut appearance for the Grozny-based club in a league tie against Zenit St.
Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium.
In total, Almeida has scored seven goals in all competition including a fantastic brace in the Russian Cup tie against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Cherchesov lavished praise on the 28-year-old striker, saying that he is happy to have him in his team.
“First, the newspaper can make whatever they want to but one should consider many options before thinking that the news are true or not. If there had been any formal offer, the club would have discussing the agenda.”
“And to immediately close the question, I will say that I do not want to see him leaving any time sooner. He scored a lot of goals so it is quite obvious that he media is linking up to top clubs but we are happy to keep him at
the moment.” The USSR Championship winner was quoted as saying.
Speaking on the club’s progress since the start of the campaign, Cherchesov admitted that they would have retained the top-spot on the league table had their players remained fit to play.
“At the beginning, we targeted middle-table finish but now it’s different.” He concluded.
As things stand, the Chechens are at the fifth spot on the league table, level on points with Kuban Krasnodar and Spartak Moscow respectively.
