Question:

Cherokee tribes?

Do you think that if someone donated a lot of money to a Cherokee tribe (like the Eastern band), they could be granted membership into the tribe? It's just that I've seen a lot of people donate like a million dollars to a group or something and the group usually extends membership to them. I'm just curious.

  1. People with money seem to be able to buy anything... even college degrees. Shoot,  If someone gave me a million dollars, they could buy a membership to my family!!! I imagine if you give enough to the Cherokees, they'll let you call yourself one.

  2. No, tribal membership depends on blood ties to the tribe.  You have to be able to trace your ancestors back and prove you have the right to be a member of the tribe.
