I just noticed my bulldog (3 months and 1 week old) has cherry eye. I can get to the vet Saturday at the earliest (today's thursday night), but can he wait one day (Friday) until that Saturday morning or does he need treatment tomorrow ASAP? Or is there anything I can do about it...?

  1. Our dog had this years ago.Our vet told us that we could have it removed. we had it removed about a week later. The wait didnt harm him at all. Just make sure he takes it easy and doesn't damage or scratch the eye. Some dogs will need eye drops because of dry eye after having it removed. Good Luck !!

  2. If it actual is cherry eye, then no its not an emergency and no you there isn't anything you can do about it.

What did the vet's office say when you called? They would have told you if it was indeed an emergency.

  3. Your dog will be ok till Saturday. Both my EBD had cherry eye. Ask your vet if they cut them out or tuck them back in cutting the cherry eye out will remove the tear duct this will lead to eye problems because the eye will not tear again. My first EBD was a rescue he had chronic eye problems found out from my vet that he must have had chery eyes and they were cut out the poor dog had to have drops in his eyes three time a day in the morning I had to put warm towels on is eyes to help them open up because of all the boogers that would build up over night and he could not open his eyes. So ask your vet about how they take care of the cherry eye.
