  1. Kribensis are not african cichlids. Not all cichlids are african. Kribs are a very passive fish, so If you have them with aggressive fish, you should move them as soon as possible. Kribs are a dwarf cichlid. Dwarf cichlids do great in community aquariums.  Kribs mouths are so small, they can not eat and adult cherry shrimp. Also, here is how to breed Krebs-

In a community tank, put in a cheap flower pot, one that is big enough for the Krebs to get inside. Then feed them lots of good foods like blood worms, , baby cherry shrimp if you can find them!In a community aquarium they will only breed if they feel comfortable! If there are aggressive fish, they will not breed. Also, you need to have a well established tank with some algae in the gravel for the fry to graze on, also have a micro worms culture handy to feed the fry every other day on.(Every other day b/c they will be eating the algae on the gravel)

If there are aggressive fish they will eat the fry.

Separating a pair of spawned kribs and their babies can be very stress full and should not be done unless there is another fish in the tank eating the babies that the parents can not stop(That happened to me, a lot of ppl say 20 gallons per pair, but in a tank you need an extra 20 gallons, so in your 40 only get 1 pair of kribs.)

Once they have spawned, the eggs will hatch in 5-7 days and you will bearly be able to see the little babies at the bottom of the pot absorbing the yolk sac, but the parents guard them with there life.Once the fry get there adult colors(Babies are speckled) you can sell them and the pair may spawn again in a few weeks. Do not expect t6o see eggs withing the first 3 weeks, it takes them a while to settle down and get comfortable. If you want to make sure the amountnt of babies survive, it is best to get them their own 10-20 gallon tank with a bare bottom, fishless cycle it and move them in. Feed the fry micro worms once they are free swimmingng and the mom is swimming around the tank with them. Good luck, these are a great beginners fish to spawn and very fun!

    =)

  2. If they can find them, yes. Generally you don't want to stock any Cichlids with Dwarf Shrimp. Technically, any fish is capable of eating a shrimp, if it's an adult or a newborn.

I suggest you set up a separate tank for your shrimp or Krib, so then the shrimp won't be harmed.

    E-mail me for any questions!

EDIT: Kribs ARE from Africa: http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/speciesS...

  3. In nature they will eat invertibrates.  Chances are you shrimp will be eaten, or the babies will at any rate.  If there are tons of plants and hiding spots they may be fine, but I wouldn't chance it.  If your kribs are going to breed, they will kill the shrimp if it ventures anywhere near the eggs/fry.
