Question:

Cherry tree dropping its leaves

I can not tell how long the tree has been at my house, but I have been at the house for about 5 years. It is about 20 to 35 feet tall now. Upon further inspection it looks that the yellowing leaves have some dark spots on them. Does this help. I have been watering it now for about a week, giving it a good watering about 1 to 2 times per week. I live in east central Illinois and temps have not been triple digits, but has been warm and humid for a couple of weeks so far this month. Today, has been the exception. An further advice?

  1. There are several wild cherry trees on the property next to mine that have been dropping TONS of leaves, all yellow.  They're fine; we're in a drought in North Carolina so that could be causing the problem.  The trees continue to bear fruit and show no other signs of distress.
