Andrew Chervichenko has talked about the chances of the Russian clubs in the UEFA Champions League and has commented on the controversy-hit Denisov
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Denisov-c16694 did not reported back at Zenit St. Petersburg after returning from the International duty at the World Cup qualifiers despite being backed by the manager, Luciano Spalletti, to solve his issue with the club’s management.
The Italian head coach urged the 28-year-old central midfielder to return to the St. Petersburg club, saying that he is ready to give Denisov another chance to rebuild his tarnished reputation at Petrovsky stadium regardless of
his unprofessional behaviour.
Denisov has particularly been criticized for issuing a pay rise ultimatum to the Russian Premier League club last month. The St. Petersburg club refrained Denisov to train with the senior team for an unspecified period after his
questionable claims.
However, the prolific midfielder remains silent until now despite promising the fans of solving his issue with the club management after helping the Russian national team in claiming back-to-back wins against Portugal and Azerbaijan
in the qualifying rounds.
Andrew Chervichenko has blasted Denisov for making a fuss out of the entire situation and damaging the reputation of Russian football in front of the World, insisting that the player needs to return to his parent club if he is
to save his career.
“It seems like Zenit were wrong to spend so much money on the transfers this summer. I think they should have not announced the details of the purchase. There were many other issues that should have been addresses at the St. Petersburg
club with that kind of money.
“In a situation with Denisov, I am completely against the midfielder’s view point. Every player needs to obey his contract. I cannot understand why he is asking for more money after recently signing a new deal at Zenit. I think
these things should never happen in football.” The 45-year-old was quoted as saying.
Commenting on Zenit and Spartak Moscow’s ongoing UEFA Champions League campaign, Chervichenko warned the Russian outfit to win the remaining group stage matches if they are to reach the later stages in the tournament.
