Cheryl Sornson bagged the top podium spot during the second stage of the Trans-Sylvania Epic 2012, Women category
Cheryl Sornson of Team CF proved her dominance during the second stage of the Trans-Sylvania after her tremendous performance during the event.
She finished the race in a quickest time of 4 hours 28 minutes and 59 seconds and restricted her opponents.
The 28-year-old bagged a convincing victory during the race and finished more than 5 minutes ahead of the peloton.
Sue Haywood of Team Stan’s NoTubes Elite Women finished 5 minutes and 13 seconds behind at the second position with her team-mate Jenny Smith achieving the third position.
Kristin Gavin of Team CF, Alice Pennington of Team Kona, Sarah Kaufmann and Shannon Gibson of Team Stan’s NoTubes Elite Women achieved the fourth, the fifth, the sixth and the seventh position in the respective order.
While commenting on her superb victory, Sorenson briefed, “At the aid station, I got in ahead of Sue and got out quick, right before in the singletrack I tested her, got a little gap, grabbed my bottles and kept going".
She further added, "I was tired after yesterday but I felt good today”.
“I'm a little concerned about tomorrow since it's a lot of rolling terrain and not very technical, I'll try to hold the NoTubes pace line if it forms".
On the other hand, Barry Wicks of Team Kona wins the men’s category of the race and grabbed the second overall position.
"I felt really good on the trails today, and I was able to push the pace after getting a feel for the field" Wicks told the media after crossing the finish line.
Wicks is 47 seconds behind the race leader, Jeremiah Bishop of Team Cannondale Factory Racing.
Drew Edsall of Team Kenda/Felt, Aaron Snyder of Team Scott Pro Mountain Bike Team and Cary Smith of Team CF are holding the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Cheryl is now leading the stage 2 classifications with a convincing lead of 5 minutes and 13 seconds over Sue Haywood of Team NoTubes Elite Women.
