In the aftermath of the outcome, Dmitri Cheryshev has apologised to the fans for the defeat and assured them of putting the Russian outfit back on track after their back-to-back defeats.
"First, I want to apologize to the fans for the defeat, it’s a shame. It was just a complete lack of will from our side and the opposing team really wanted to win. They had the desire, they were faster, bolder and more vivid on
the field.
“I accept the charges and know that the critics are blaming me for this. I just want to say that we failed to execute the game plan.” The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Cheryshev went on to admit that Volga lacked disciple throughout the match and pointed at lack of will to win. He urged the defensive line to improve, revealing that the result would have been different had they not conceded the
penalty.
