  1. Focus and think. if you think you're good enough later on, then relax while playing yet still focusing.

  2. sounds like 100% of players.:)

One thing that MAY help, emphasize MAY, is sitting on your hands and writing your move before you make it.

This will force you to slow down.

no one can think better.  One can think longer.

  3. hey look mate.. chess is notthing what people say it is ,... and im Gm.Haider2007 . with rating 2300 in yahoo chess servers.. the only way to be good at chess is reading people... read their patterns.. think what move they gonna do .. Use The What if possibility.. learn all the openings and you will do fine.. thats how chess works and dont play 1min game if your a beginner try long games eg 5min or more and good luck gm.haider2007

  4. Haha play for money. That got me into some of the most intense foosball matches of my life. Really though, just try to forget everything else. Taking a deep breath never hurts (unless of course the air is full of mustard gas, or something like it).

  5. As you play chess more you will make less carless moves. Yes, it's true

  6. when you get deeper in the game look at your move and then when you say yes i want to move that piece, before you do it look over it one more time and see if it messes you up, so overlook every move twice before you do it. i use to be the same way but now that i take more time i have become much better cause i dont make stupid mistakes much anymore.

  7. I believe the old quote is "when you find a good move, sit on your hands and look for a better one."unless you are in time pressure, just make sure to double check the following, can my opponent put me in check, and am i leaving one of my pieces/pawns hanging.

  8. Ignore all around you, just focus, when you feel your mind blank, then you are ready!!!

  9. "Play the board, not the man."

Your opponent will often make some psychological antics like spilling his water over the table, or tapping his fingers on the table, or tapping his feet on the floor. It's best if you ignore these types of things, because they are often very successful at distracting you from the game. For this reason, you must ignore him, and play the game. Be like a computer--emotionlessly calculate moves without paying attention to your surroundings.

  10. Gamble whilst you play!

  11. why did i stare at the juice carton ? ....

Because it said CONCENTRATE !! haha lol

just bet on it? it would make you concentrate better. Think what your going to do in the next move and just focus.

  12. Play for money it concentrates the mind wonderfully.

  13. I'm not the best chess player...but I've heard this old suggestion.........Think ahead at least 2 mover's....If I do this they Might/will do this.....that's the only way besides trial and error that you can use......if your really hardcore and have a good memory...go to websites that chronicle classic chess tournament's/moves............rememberin... what you see is the key.......

  14. Classical music.
