Chess Intuition?

Do you rely alot on your intuition when you play Chess or do you try to calculate everything out?

  1. It depends on time.  If pressed I, or anyone, will have to "think with their hands".

    Unfortunately, the brain thinks better than the hands.:)

    I told my students to sit on their hands so they'd get that extra second for them to realize to engage their brain.

    Hardly helped.

    If the opponent blitzed, so did they.


  2. It's a combination of both:  Calculating what moves will work for your plan, but also using your intuition to figure out your opponent's strategy.

  4. Intuition, with a 3 or 4 move plan, but that usually gets shredded pretty quick by the other guys moves.

  5. I always try to calculate as much as i can but i often resort to intuitive moves if i am not satisfied with my calculation or when I know that my intuition is right and calculating is just not necessary.

  6. My most impressive wins have been games that I have calculated out.
