with the pieces in the current positions, what is the one move that white could make that Couldn't win?

with the pieces in hte current position and it being white's turn what are all possible check mates in two moves.

  1. r c 5  2nd move  r a 5


  2. 1 move c3 to a5

  3. you can always castle if you know how

  4. wel you could move the queen one down

  5. loose queen and knight and casle

  6. on figure1:

    you can move your queen to f8 or in h8, then its a checkmate

    on figure2:

    white: rook to c4

    black: blacks only response is king to a3

    white: rook to a5, checkmate!!

  7. The first one, Qc6 and it's stalemate (draw).

    The second one, the Rook should just lose a move by going to either c5, d5, e5, f5 or g5, and then mate on a5 next.

  8. In the first one, Qc6 is stalemate - black has no legal moves.

    In the second one, the rook can move to any of c,d,e,f or g5. Then Ka3 is forced for black, and Ra5 is checkmate.
