Ok so the rules are it is an illegal move to move the King into check right? Because when I play online It wont let me move my king into check. So I was wondering in a real life chess game do you say anything if your opponent moves his/or her King into check?

  1. yes

  2. Yes you inform them that they cannot move into check.  You also cannot castle if in check or if you will cross over or land on a square that is in check.  You cannot move a piece that is blocking a piece that is attacking your king. And note to Larry  Evans........ Capablanca would have defeated Alekhine  in a rematch.

  3. when i was in chess club in fourth grade, i remember we were required to say "illegal move, take it back" when someone put their king in check. so yeah.

  4. Yes, you say, "you can't move there, it will put you in check" or "you can't move there, that's an illegal move"

Sometimes in speed chess games, people move so fast they move their king into check and the other person takes the King and the game is over but I don't like that kind of game. The rules clearly state you cannot move the king into check. Period.

  5. Yes, you are supposed to let your opponent know that he/she moved in to 'check,' if they don't see it themselves. As you stated in your question, it is against the rules to move the king into a position where he is in 'check.' So, if your opponent does that, you have to let them know that they've made an illegal move.

  6. Yes, you're supposed to

  7. yes you say "check"

  8. No, not in tournaments.  It's customary in casual games, but nobody playing in tournaments will announce check.  In fact, if you ever see that happen in a movie involving a chess tournament, it's a tipoff that they did no research (and had never gone to a real tournament themselves).

By the way, if it is discovered later on that a check was not noticed, then the position is restored to that situation and the player in check is required to get out of it.  If it is not discovered until after the game is over, the game stands as played.

  9. yes you do or they got away with cheating

  10. You're totally supposed to.

I was playing chess on Friday, and my opponent didn't tell me, and then he defeated me, and I was like "Hey, wait a minute! You can't do that!"

It's best to realize it yourself, though.

  11. Hi,

Moving your king [KI] into check [+CH] is an illegal move. So, mature players don't do it.  You may like to visit my web page - link below?  You can PRINT out a copy of any orthodox chess set and board in the world - FREE!
