  1. Well the 2 most active chess publications are

    1.Batsford

    2.Dover

Search within their catalogues.I think-according to a starting level-you should search for strategy teaching books. They'll say what to do and what not, in the oppening. After that stage you can start reading specific oppening books.

  2. All of Mark Dvoretsky's books are written for Master strength Players please beware if your just a beginner or even an intermediate the material is going to be way over your head.

I'd suggest you get Jeremy Silman's complete endgame course which is divided according to rating and has everything you need.

  3. I ressomend any book by Mark Dvoretsky. He is a great author and teacher and all of his books are written spectacularly. Pick up one of his books on the middle game and you should be covered.

As for the opening that one is a bit more difficult. Since there are literally 1000s of openings its fairly hard to find a book that covers most of them. However I do reccomend the book called World Champion Openings by Eric Schiller. It's a good book that covers tons of openings breifly followed by a couple of sample games.

    Hope this helps

  4. well,i think nimzowitch's book ((my system)) is a good one

  5. A big opening tome like MCO 13 is good for figuring out what someone played against you.  More specifically it depends on what opening you like.

For the middle game I suggest the Chess Tutor by Ault.

  6. Rueben Fine's, "Basic Chess Endings" is one of the best beginner books on chess. Most chess players will tell you, if you want to understand the opening and the middlegame, start with endings first. I know it sound's illogical, but Grandmasters agree, you have to know what you are aiming for and why, and understanding endings puts you far ahead of the pack in these times of selfish genes and clockwork oranges. May the force be with Jew's; but not of course,  the Dutch or Pegans.

Also, "Mein Kaumph" by Adolf Hitler is a good one. This enables your nodes inside your brain to flux perpetually. (Chop Chop--flam flam--Chop Chop)
