Lately for the past month I've been having like a heavy feeling or tightness in my chest, it's rather hard to explain. And sometimes I feel like I can't breath, but I'm breathing just fine, but I panic and start breathing hard and taking deep breaths, you know what I mean? Well I went to the doctor, they did an EKG, I even wore a heart monitor for the weekend to be sure, and nothings wrong, they didn't tell me what it could be but the doctor told me for sure it was no heart attack. I just don't know what it could be, seems like I feel like this when I'm not doing anything, like just sitting watching tv, or with a clear mind just thinking about things. It seems to worsen at night. I start to shake really bad for about 5-10 minutes then it goes away. But it's really bothering me and making me think something is really wrong. What could this be, I was thinking anxiety, my mom, aunt, cousin, and sister have suffered with it not too long ago, and they had some symptoms like this. I just hope it's nothing serious and hopefully there's some medicine I can take or something to do cause it's really aggravating.

And please don't say go to the doctor, I already been and it cost me an arm and leg (I have no insurance and they cut my Medicaid) have any of you had symptoms like this, what did you do? Please help!

  2. I agree with your that it is most like anxiety ( have an anxiety disorder and your symptoms are the same).

Here are some none-drug ways to treat anxiety:

Deep breathing... as soon as you start feeling any anxiety symtoms, be aware of your breathing, then change it.  Take a slow breath in.  Hold it 4 seconds, breathe out.  Repeat 3 times.

Make sure you do not get overtired, try to keep a regular sleep schedule. Do not go long periods of time between meals.

Cut out or (if it is too hard) icut down on as much caffeine as you can.  It is a stimulant and will make anxiety symptoms more likely to occur.

I assume you don't smoke. Smoking can triggger anxiety, because nicotine is a stimulant.

In short, take good care of yourself.  Keep active and busy.

Chamomile tea before bed helps a lot.

If the above doesn't work, please rethink about seeing a doctor.  Borrow the money if you have to.  Better to catch anxiety in the early stages than to have it seriously impact your life by not treating it.

    I wish you well!

  3. Definitely it sounds like a panic attack. I have panic attacks and have the same symptoms like you. I also went the doctor and nothing was wrong with my heart. Then he told me that I had anxiety.

Talk to your doctor and ask him to give you some meds to control your attacks. There are so many and your only your doctor can recommend one right just for you.
