Chest hit: Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden avoids serious injury – NFL News
A possibility of suffering a serious injury by Cleveland Browns’ quarterback Brandon Weeden has been ruled out after the player took a furious hit on his chest but later confirmed that he was now feeling 100 percent.
Some sections of media had earlier reported that the QB had some problems with calling the plays after taking the hit but looked alright later in Browns’ game against former Super Bowl champions, the Green Bay Packers on Friday, which they won convincingly,
35-10.
The hit had reportedly come as a result of the pace in a walkthrough by Weeden, which coach Pat Shurmur said was expected from the young and energetic player in the preseason phase.
Pat said:
"To be able to go into a storied football environment and win a game - it's a preseason game, I get that - that's an important thing. I saw a lot of young guys playing fast, playing hard and enjoying the experience."
Later, Weeden himself confirmed that he felt alright and there was no possibility of him being out of the side with that hit. He at the same time admitted that the hit was so severe that he was out of breath for a moment.
Weeden said:
"I was surprised. I just lost my breath. I tried to call the next play in the huddle and couldn't even spit out a word. My offensive line was laughing at me. I was hurting there for a second, but I feel 100 percent healthy."
The quarterback and the coach were content with the result. Weeden was particularly satisfied with the win of the team but agreed with the coach that it is just a preseason phase and still both of them have a lot of work left to do as far as performance
of the player is concerned.
It nevertheless was a good game for Browns as the former league champions are rated to be a better outfit in all aspects.
This also shows that the coach had been working hard with the players and there is a potential in the team to give a lot better performance this season as compared with the past season.
