Question:

Chest pain when running

I just went for my first run this morning and I had really bad pain in the center of my chest (like the sternum) after SLOWLY JOGGING for about 7 minutes. I guess it has to do with breathing too hard but I don't have any trouble breathing. And I don't think its a stamina problem because I wasn't even tired. What's wrong?... I'm 16 by the way.

  1. Could be asthma

  2. If you have problems in your chest, I would talk to a doctor before anything else. No matter what anyone else tells you here, this is not something you want to leave to random strangers. It could be nothing, or it could be something serious.

  3. Ya definitely get it checked out with your doctor. This used to happen to me when I first started because I ate the wrong kinds of foods before starting and would take too short of breaths. You should try eating lightly before your next run, have a bit of water, and try to take long slow breaths. If this doesnt help you then go see a doctor to make sure that there is nothing seriously wrong with you. Better to be safe than sorry.
